looking forward to a new year

#midlife blog crestingthehill.com.au

It's nearly the new year. 2016 is just around the corner and I can't wait to leap in and see what it has in store for me. I wrote about some of the good things and the changes that 2015 brought with it, so I am keen to see what lies ahead. I'm not usually so positive about where I'm heading, but this year it just feels right to look forward instead of back to what has been and gone.

I read a really good quote when I was looking for some advice for how to embrace the year ahead and I've included it below:

I loved how it focused on opportunities and experiences. Not on prosperity or getting lots of stuff, but on positive actions and having an attitude that inspires others. When you get to the ripe stage of midlife it would be nice to think that you were living a life that others looked to and thought "I'd like a life like that!"

Love and hope and peace feature in this quote - all vital in living a life that has some resonance to it. Giving love and receiving it back is a huge part of what makes life worth living. Loving with all your heart, embracing challenges, getting out there and living life with a smile is what it's all about for me.

So I'd like to wish this blessing on everyone for 2016 - not that your coffers would be overflowing, but rather that your heart would be. Not that you avoid confrontation, but that you meet different attitudes with a desire to find peace. Not that you play safe and stay the same, but rather that you step out and try something new, meet new friends, visit new places. Life is short and I would wish that we live it by being the best we are capable of being. Happy 2016!

  3. I love end of the year reflections like these. It's like sitting on the couch in your socks after a party ends, talking about everything that happened.

  4. No one could have said it better, Leanne. This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing this, and you are dead on right...it is not about "stuff" (never was, but maybe it took some of until this stage to figure it out), but about living well and meeting life with grace. We don't really choose our lives, but we sure choose how we live them. Happy New Year, and wishing all of the same right back for you!

  9. Leanne, this is great. My word for 2015 was "Breathe" and it got me through the year in one piece, it was a great choice. My word for this year is "Transparent" I hope that I can be frank and truthful about our place in life, that I can share it with others even though it is hard to talk about at times, and I hope that the light will shine through me to those around me, showcasing who they are and helping them to become. Money would be nice, but it will not come without the growth, and I am the one in control of that, I just need to be brave enough to get there! Happy New Year, I hope 2016 is all you hope for!

  10. I have an unusually (for me) positive mood at the moment, usually I suffer from the January blues, but I have so many positive goals both physical and withbmy blogging, that I am not blue at all. #OTM

  11. Life is so much better with a great deal of peace and love in my heart rather than money and problems. Thanks for reminding us of that at the Over the Moon Link Party.
