5 GREAT THINGS I'M GRATEFUL FOR

What are you grateful for? Here's my five greatest blessings

Sometimes we get so caught up in all the trials and tribulations of our world and forget to acknowledge the wonderful stuff we have in our lives every day. Maybe it's time to put the world on pause for a little while and take time out to think about the blessings we've been given.

Today these are the five great things I'm grateful for. I could probably sit and list another five without too much trouble, but these were the first to spring to mind. I wonder what other people would have in their top five - feel free to enlighten me in the comments!

1. A GREAT FAMILY

This is our family at Christmas - it was so lovely to be all together for the day. Having a family who care about each other and actually like each other is such a huge blessing.

2. GREAT FRIENDS

I have a wonderful assortment of friends who I share the ups and downs of life with. None of them would be thrilled to have their pictures plastered all over my blog post, but suffice it to say, they are etched in my mind and I value them beyond measure. The sheer joy in knowing there are people who "get" me and who want to share their time with me never ceases to amaze me.

3. A GREAT JOB

I've mentioned before that I had spent too long in a job I had seriously come to dislike, working with people who I struggled to understand. I took a leap of faith and left it behind me, found a new job and then an even better one and at last I feel I can say that I am working in a great job - what a blessing to be appreciated and to love what I do.

4. A GREAT COUNTRY TO LIVE IN

I look at the troubles in our world today, at the political upheavals and the wars, strife, and violence and I am thankful every day that I live in a country where acceptance and inclusion are so important. Australia is a long way from most places (a pain when you're travelling, but a blessing when you are at home). When I watch the news, read Facebook, or hear of the evil that is going on, I am grateful to live in such a wonderful country.

5. A GREAT COMMUNITY OF BLOGGERS

I am grateful every day to have discovered the joy of blogging. To have connected with a fantastic group of women all over the world who share a love for midlife, for counting our blessings, for encouraging each other and for sharing the fun of writing from the heart. I always wanted penpals - and this is one step further along in the process. I think blogging is a well kept secret that I am immensely pleased to have discovered.

  4. I am visiting from Blogging Grandmothers and am so glad I found you! Your family is beautiful. I am finding the same simple things make me happy now that I'm a grandma too. Family, friends, and a good safe country (USA) to live in. I never thought of it the way you mentioned - blogging friends are like the pen pals of older days! I waited forever for letters from Japan!

    1. I had a Japanese penpal when I was in primary school too! And it's so lovely to meet you. I hope we'll become blogging buddies as time goes on - that's one of the great things about blogging - it's so immediate and distance has not impact x
