GUEST POST - KATHLEEN FROM THE BLOGGER'S PIT STOP

KATHLEEN AHERNE

The last, but not least, guest in my series of great bloggers who host Link Parties is Kathleen from The Blogger's Lifestyle. Kathleen is another Aussie blogger and has been an inspiration to me from the very beginning of my blogging journey - she is always up with the latest online trends and a great supporter of other bloggers. And she also has a great little discount Luvit Store which everyone should check out for a Christmas bargain or two.

Kathleen is the driving force behind The Blogger's Pit Stop, and it has become my all time favourite weekly link up - I can't wait to share my posts every Friday morning when the party goes live. So without further ado, here is Kathleen and her answers to my questions about her blog and her Link Party.

KATHLEEN'S QUESTIONS:

WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG?

Thank you for this opportunity to share with your readers, Leanne. I am also a big fan of your intuitive writing.
My blog is called The Blogger’s Lifestyle at https://www.KathleenAherne.com

TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU.

I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland, Australia with my husband who is my best friend.  I don’t like to define myself by age, but I have been around for quite a while. It is not much fun talking about yourself, so I will just give a few facts like they do in blog awards.
  • I worked as a trained nurse for many years.
  • I married a handsome policeman.
  • I have lived in the USA and New Zealand.
  • Lived in a remote Papua New Guinea village (12 years) and became fluent in the tribal language and culture.
  • Managed two medical clinics in Australia.
  • Coffee is my favorite drink.
  • Most embarrassing moment and biggest laugh – Leaving a live show – my pants dropped to my ankles. (I had undone them during the show because the waist was too tight.)
  • I don’t like to hear people chewing.
  • Had three children, two are lovely adults, one beautiful boy is deceased.
  • I love being creative, enjoying photography, art, crafts, computer games, reading, hiking.
  • Life is never smooth sailing, if it were, we would never need to be strong. Through all the storms of life, God has been our constant strength and refuge.
  • Now you know it all.

WHAT DO YOU WRITE ABOUT?
‘The Blogger’s Lifestyle’ gives me a broad scope of the different blogging genres. I write about my interest in how lifestyle changes can alter health outcomes. Also adapting recipes to be healthier without being boring.

I have written about the technical side of blogging. Also on the themes of travel, literary and motivation. I have a renewed interest in craft and intend to write some new tutorials on making wire and crystal trees. Miniature terrariums and seed bead projects.

WHAT IS A BLOGGING TIP YOU CAN PASS ON?

Be yourself and aim to add value. I do like Ryan Biddulph’s quote on blogging. “. . . blogging with love, for fun, and serving people generously.”

WHAT IS THE BEST THING ABOUT BLOGGING?

Writing posts helps me sort out my own thinking on issues that I may never have taken time to consider if I was not writing. I am thrilled if anyone enjoys or learns from my posts. I read a lot of posts, and I am the richer for doing so.

WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR LINK PARTY?

The Blogger’s Pit Stop – using the analogy of a racing car pit stop - a place to re-fuel, repair, servicing and direction.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START A LINK PARTY?

Mainly to get to know other bloggers. With many of the same people joining in each week, we got to understand and appreciate each other. Initially, we had a group of newbies, and we grew together. It is satisfying to see that we have all found our way and branched out into different genres and matured as bloggers.

The present party, the Blogger’s Pit Stop was created to be a place for bloggers to come and engage, to inspire and motivate each other.

WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST CHALLENGING ABOUT HOSTING A LINK PARTY?

Making the platform ready each week, but in saying that, I enjoy it.  Setting the features up and making the links is time challenging, yet that is one of our core values, to promote others with ‘dofollow’ links.

WHAT DO YOU FIND MOST REWARDING?

I just love our bloggers and the variety and value that they add to our lives each week.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU’D LIKE TO ADD?
It is hard for non-bloggers, to grasp that we can have wonderful friends on the internet that are valued as much as a friend anywhere. Yet time-saving automation can rob us, and I would like bloggers to protect the personal interaction of blog parties.

"Kathleen has a wide range of interests, she enjoys learning and helping others along the way. The Blogger's Lifestyle encourages a balanced lifestyle where we can achieve our potential. To keep inspired, to dream and be excited about the future."

  2. Thanks so much Dee. Nurses are a great lot that I have loved being a part of. I don't nurse anymore, kind of glad not to have that responsibility.

  3. I also enjoyed learning more about Kathleen. For one thing, we share in common being bothered by the sound of people chewing. I would extend that to slurping as well. I try my best to ignore it, but am not always successful! :-) I cannot top your most embarrassing moment though. That will have me laughing all day. I assume you are laughing now too, or you wouldn't have shared it with us. Thanks for hosting the Blogger's Pit Stop. I look forward to it every week.

    2. Thank you Christie. I am happy to find I am not alone in the chewing annoyance:) Trying to ignore it is hard, background music helps. Yes, every time my husband thinks about the embarrassing incident he roars with laughter, I do too.

    1. Thank you, Yes living in PNG was a great experience and living remote, the locals were unaffected by what goes on in the larger towns.

  6. Hi Leanne & Kathleen! You are both blogging friends of mine but I love these posts because there is always more to learn about a person. Kathleen was one of my first blogging contacts so she holds a special place in my blogging heart. I also hate hearing people chew BTW! I would love to visit PNG there is a cruise there from Brisbane which is on our bucket list. You certainly have lived a very full life, Kathleen so keep on Sizzling!

    1. Thanks for your kind words dear friend. I am so pleased that my lifelong aversion to hearing people chew is not just me. PNG is a wonderful place, these days a cruise and being with a group is the safest way. LOL I am trying to Sizzle.

  9. I really enjoyed reading this, Kathleen! I would love to have a chance to sit down and talk face to face! So much I'd like know more about: your life in PNG, where and why did you live in the USA, your children (I am so sorry to read about your sweet boy). We could also compare our most embarrassing moments (mine also involved pants falling to my ankles!), and drink coffee for hours!

    1. Sounds wonderful, Wendy. I know we would share much more than coffee. Although we traveled quite a bit in the US we were mainly in Jersey Shore Pennsylvania.
I would love to hear your story.
