the blogging quote challenge

#midlifeblog cresting the hill

The lovely Kathy Gottberg from Smart Living 365 invited me to a blogging challenge where you share your three favourite quotes. I am the self anointed Queen of Quotes and have several Pinterest boards dedicated to different types of quotes that take my fancy (you can have a look here if you're interested and feel free to follow any of them - I love new followers!)

The biggest challenge for me was narrowing the choice of my favourite quotes down to only three. I decided to pick a few from my Midlife Quotes board because they are the ones most relevant to my life at the time being. So here we go with my top three....

Quote No#1
as you get older you find out that true happiness.....

This quote has appealed to me from the moment I first read it - it speaks so eloquently of the values that I've found myself forming as I reach this second stage of life. Society may tell you that you need a lot to be happy, but really it comes down to family and love and quality every time.

Quote No #2
Do you know what happens when you decide to stop worrying?

This is a big learning curve for me (and I think I'm getting there by gradual degrees). Just to be happy in myself and not to worry about the opinion of others. I will always fall into the trap of worrying about what other people think, but I'm learning to let that go and to be true to myself and what is valuable to me and to my life.

Quote No #3
I will hold myself to a standard of grace, not perfection

This is my most recent heart felt quote. As I start the journey forward in a new job and learning all that comes with it, I am realizing that I don't need to be perfect. I am gaining some self confidence and a deeper belief in myself and what I have to offer. I'm becoming a firm believer in grace above all else - extending it to myself and to others around me.

If you are a fan of quotations too I'd love you to share your favourites in the comments section. I also have a quote of the day on my facebook page. If you'd like to have something new pop up on your facebook feed each day, you can like my page here. On that note I'd like to pass the challenge on to three other blogging friends:

Here are the directions about the 3-Day Quote Challenge that I received from Kathy:

  • Post three of your favorite quotes (a different quote on three consecutive days or do it all in one post). The quote can be from your favorite book, author or your own.
  • Nominate 3 bloggers to challenge them
  • Thank the blogger, who nominated you.

  3. My favorite quote is verging on trite yet it remains a firm favorite :-) to the world you may be one person but to one person you may be the world.

    1. Hi Carla - I think quotes can seem trite because they are simple and true and we think that it's too simple when it's actually quite profound - I love your quote :)

  6. Hi Leanne! GREAT quotes! I agree with you and love them all but I have to admit the second one is my favorite. I need to be reminded every single day to be true to myself and let go of what others think of me. I'm getting better thank goodness but reminders are essential. Thanks for taking up the "invitation"! ~Kathy
