LIFE LESSON FROM MY CAT #11 - DRESS FOR COMFORT

"There should be a law that there's a pajama day every few weeks." - Alyson Hannigan #quotes

WEAR WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY

This is a picture of my daughter's cat, Shadow, wearing her Winter pajamas. She is a Devon Rex chosen because she has very little hair (it's more like fluffy fur) and because of that she is good for people who are allergic to cats (my son-in-law). The only problem is when Winter comes she feels the cold - so the solution is to put her in something to make her warmer - and here she is in her PJ's feeling relaxed and snuggly.

LOVING A PAJAMA DAY

I think Shadow is on to a good thing and if I could wave a magic wand, I'd make one day every month Pajama Day - this would be a day where you could sit around in snuggly comfort without worrying about tizzying yourself up for anyone. If you need to pop down the shop for some milk (or a chocolate bar) nobody would mind - they'd just think "oh....it must be her Pajama Day for this month."

I have to confess to sneaking in a pajama day here and there when I'm home all day (no I don't go down to the shops in them) and I do have a shower and brush my hair, but then the pj's go back on with a pair of fuzzy socks and I'm ready for a day of reading, TV or blogging (or all three). It's good to chill out and be comfy without worrying about what others might think.

IT'S NICE TO HAVE A DAY OF REST

I'm not sure that my husband is as big a fan of Pajama Day as I am, he seems to prefer me looking a little more "put together" but I know he doesn't begrudge me a day here and there when I can look like something the cat dragged in (oh another cat reference!) and I think he's secretly a little bit envious of my superpower - which is doing nothing and in great comfort.

  3. Yep I can relate, we love PJ days, I shower and put them back on and love it! We should totally have a blogging PJ day get together. I wonder if our cats would get along? #Fridayreflections

    1. I think there is a lot of merit in the idea Mackenzie - my daughter would join in as well - she bought me my latest pair of comfy pants so she "gets" it :)

  4. I happen to be one of the lucky ones who makes it a point to have a pajama day quite often. Especially when I tie it into my "no driving day." Yup, pj days are mental health days. No expectations, relaxing and just plain needed.

    1. I agree Michelle - why would you zip yourself into a pair of jeans when you can slide into some stretchy soft pants and a loose top and chill out?

  5. I am all for PJ day. Or caftans, which I think should be mandatory. Every day!

    1. I think it's time the fashion industry caught on to this Carol - skinny jeans are ridiculous in comparison!

  6. My husband travels a lot so I have had quite a few PJ days. Sometimes, when I get up really early and start writing on my computer, it somehow doesn't effect my psyche at all to do it in PJs, no makeup, etc. There is some point that I do go take a shower but get right back in my PJs. I love those days.

    1. Me too - I feel less pressure to put in a tidy appearance if my husband is away too. I also cook ridiculously easy meals and generally slack off :)

  7. Oh I love the idea of a PJ day!I often stay in mine until half way through the morning, and you can be sure that's the day a neighbor will ring the doorbell or send a message she's on her way! Maybe I need to learn to greet visitors with a cheery greeting and say, "Oh didn't you get the message? It's PJ day today."

    2. I forget the magic words all the time Shirley so it's fine :) MY neighbour always pops in looking immaculate - I think she just accepts the fact that I'll be in my yoga pants and no bra'd top. It can't be too bad or she'd stop visiting!

    1. wouldn't it be great Laurie? It would be like having a magic card up your sleeve that you could toss down once a month to get out of jail free - "sorry I'm on Pajama Day today!"

  12. That cat photo is adorable! I'm not sure I could get my cats into sweaters. I could get on board with pajama day. We American's are often accused of being overly casual in our dress already- no doubt some would abuse it and show up to work in PJ's!

  17. Nice idea, I did have a PJ day a couple of weeks ago it was relaxing. I said to my hubby that this is the first time I have ever done this. I might make a habit of this (not too often though).

  21. Ok THAT cat is cute!
5 mins before I started reading this my husband was asking why I was in pjs at 4.30pm. Truth is after a day at work I showered and changed into pjs and climbed into bed for warmth. Perfect bliss. He will never understand. Lucky the days I don't work, he's at work. What he doesn't know can't hurt him!

  22. How cute and I could do with a PJ day Leanne! My daughter has a similar coat for her miniature schnauser. We all need a PJ day where we can shut out the world and just take time to reflect and relax.
