TIOSEBON WALKING SHOES REVIEW - I'M LOVING THEM!

Trying out the new Tiosebon walking shoes and finding they were the perfect go to shoe for exercise and for casual wear.

BUYING TIOSEBON SHOES ONLINE

A few months ago - before COVID-19 stopped the world in its tracks - I was approached by Tiosebon, an online shoe company, to see if I'd be interested in reviewing some of their walking shoes. I've never bought shoes online before because it always seemed easier to visit my local shopping centre for the occasional shoe purchase. But, I'm always open to trying new things, and seeing we were all safe/stuck at home, it seemed like the perfect time to accept their lovely offer of a gift of their shoes and to see what was available for those times when we can't get to the shops for various reasons.

CHOOSING MY TIOSEBON SHOES

When I opened the Tiosebon site I was amazed at the selection available - and especially the variety of colours. It was really hard figuring out which pair to choose. I'm a big fan of colour and when I saw the purple sneakers I was won over immediately. They also come in more conservative colours (in fact there are 17 colours to choose from!), and I dithered over whether to play safe, but what's not to love about purple?! My current pair of little, soft sneakers were getting old and tired, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to replace them with something a little bit fun and funky.

Then, as I paged through I discovered a lovely pink pair of platform walking shoes that I couldn't scroll past (well, I did....but kept coming back to them because they were perfect for when I'll be allowed out of the house again and back to having coffee dates with my friends). So, I was happy to accept their gift of both pairs, and sat back to see what would arrive. I love it when I get parcels in the mail - and the anticipation alone made the wait worthwhile.

UNBOXING AND TRYING THEM ON

First I have to point out that Tiosebon offer free shipping for all purchases over $40 and they have a very fair and comprehensive returns policy too, so that was a weight off my mind. I was a little bit worried about sizing and hoped I'd made the correct choice based on the AUS/US conversion charts I found online. I'm also a Midlife blogger and not an Instagram model, so my photos are real life and not filtered.

Both pairs arrived safely and weren't over packaged - I loved that there wasn't all the waste that often comes with all the padding and packing when you order from overseas. I guess shoes travel well and the box was designed so well that Luna adopted it as her new favourite sitting place for the week!

Anyway.... onto the shoes....

THE PURPLE TIOSEBON SNEAKERS

The first pair of shoes to arrive were the purple sneakers, I took them out of the box and crossed my fingers hoping they'd fit - and was pleasantly surprised when my foot slid into them like a pair of socks with soles - they were soft, flexible, and didn't pinch or rub anywhere - bonus points already! I've slipped them on for my evening walks around the block and they're super comfy and feel like I'd been wearing them forever - no new shoe "wearing in" required.

They're very lightweight and I'm excited about wearing them for Tai Chi classes where comfort and flexibility are the key. I know the colour is going to be an immediate hit with the women there because I've already had compliments on them from friends who've seen me walking in them. Afterall, who doesn't love a pop of colour? Size wise, because they're so soft and stretchy, they're quite forgiving and they allow for choosing a size up or down without feeling too tight or too loose.

THE PINK TIOSEBON WEDGE HEELED WALKING SHOES

I think I really should refer to these shoes as "rose gold" because they're a lovely soft shade of pink and a very classy colour for those balmy, in-between seasonal days of Autumn and Spring. They are a more structured shoe than the purple pair and a much firmer fit. My recommendation would be to go up a size rather than risk finding them a little small (mine are a tad short on the toe end and going slightly larger would have made them perfect). Since mentioning this to Hannah at Tiosebon, I've noticed that they've included the recommendation in the description (now that's customer service!)

The shoes have very soft under heel padding - they're quite springy when you bounce in them - and are fantastic for dressing things up a little but still feeling comfy. I'll be wearing these with jeans or capri pants for coffee dates or wandering around the shops. There's a sprinkle of sparkle + pearl + black dots on the top of the toe section that makes me smile - because I just love a little bit of sparkle.

WOULD I RECOMMEND TIOSEBON SHOES?

Yes, I'd recommend them in a heartbeat. The shoes were so much better than I expected and I was surprised at how well they fitted and how comfortable they were from the very first wearing. Once again I'd suggest going up a size (or half a size) when ordering the more structured styles to give your toes a little bit of wiggle room.

When shoes are such a bargain price you never know what you're going to get, so the quality and wearability were well above what I expected for the price and I'd definitely buy shoes from them in the future.

A THREE YEAR UPDATE

Well it's now 3½ years since I received my Tiosebon shoes and they're still going strong. I've just decided to buy another pair of the purple knitted comfort shoes because I've walked in them several times a week (probably walked about 1,000 kms all up just in these sneakers) and they're finally wearing out in the soles. The tops are still like new. As well as walking in them during my normal walking days, and the lead-up to, and recovery from my hip replacement, I've also used them as my go-to scooter shoes - they protect my feet while I'm on my scooter and are easy to get on and off if I want to change into sandals when I reach my destination. All in all, I'd give both pairs of my Tiosebon shoes a full ten out of ten - this collaboration has been a gift indeed.

    1. Hi Donna - I just love it when you get a pleasant surprise in a collaboration with a company. To be able to be honest about how lovely the product was is always a joy. Also being able to say they deliver everywhere means that everyone can join in the fun.

  2. Hi Leanne, I love both of these styles and colours especially the purple ones. It is good to hear that the sizing is pretty accurate as that would be one issue I would find purchasing online. Go you Influencer!

    1. Hi Sue - yes....that's me....the Midlife Influencer! It makes me smile - and wait until I start doing the bikini shots (good grief!) Still, they are lovely shoes and a great price, so I had no trouble at all with the idea of sharing them on the blog x

  3. I adore those purple sneakers & love that they're washable (oh and good for the environment too...) but mostly because they look cute.

    1. I'm with you Jo - nice to be eco-friendly, but even nicer when they come in great colours! I nearly played safe with the black - so glad I didn't!

  4. I love the pale pink ones at the bottom because the little wedge heel is cute! And I think I'd feel quite bouncy in them!

  5. So envious that you could select them and buy them...and they worked for you. I have quite a few problems with my feet and even trying softest shoes on in shoe shops I still can't find anything. But seriously these are "you" ...well-done. Denyse #lovinlife

    1. Hi Denyse - I loved them too. Those sneakers are absolutely amazing for how soft and flexible they are. It seriously feels like I have a pair of socks on when I'm wearing them - but when you have foot issues you do have to be careful with what you buy - and it can be a big deal finding the right pair.

    1. Thanks Deb - I liked that they were better than what I was expecting, so it made it easier to write a positive review. I also felt I needed to add any little bits that I thought weren't quite perfect so that it was 100% honest too.

  7. Hi Leanne, I had fun checking through the Tiosebon website. I love all of the fun colours, different options and the shoes look very comfortable. I am a fan of “water shoes” since they make a huge difference on the beach. Good point on minimal packaging. I do notice when there is unnecessary waste.

Comfort and style. I won’t settle for less. Thank you for the honest review, Leanne.

    1. Hi Erica - I'm glad you liked their shoes too - even my husband commented on what good value they are. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on my shoes if I don't have to - so a few pairs like this give the shoe wardrobe a boost without breaking the bank.

  8. Leanne, love the purple ones. I am so glad you did not hold the shoe to your face and pout your lips!

    1. Suzanne you made me laugh - I just couldn't do the whole "influencer" thing - it just seems so fake (and I don't have lip fillers to make my pout worth photographing!) I settled for a montage and thought I did pretty well!

    1. I loved that the wedges look dressier but were comfy to walk in and really stable and soft - all good stuff for when you're not a teenager tottering around in stilletoes!

  10. Nice looking pairs, Leanne. Though I shop online (mainly from Amazon and Flipkart), I have never bought any footwear. There are many who do, actually. Somehow I am yet to get off the mindset that the footwear might not be of the right fit. Maybe it's just in the mind.

    1. Hi Pradeep - I wondered the same thing - this site has a very good match to the size I thought I'd be. My husband has been looking at their men's shoes and is tempted to try a pair or two - I might convert him to online shoe shopping!

  11. Hi Leanne, I love the purple ones! I have to be so careful buying shoes because in the past I've bought the exact same size and type of shoe that I've worn before, only to find that it no longer fits because they changed it slightly. Recently I bought a pair of boots online because they were a fraction of the price as in the shops and was very relieved to find they fit.

    1. It's definitely a bit hit and miss isn't it? I was so relieved when these ones fitted - and the really soft purple ones were very forgiving with getting an exact sizing - lots of stretch to allow for some leeway.

  12. What's not to love about purple in deed! beautiful shoes. I am not much of a shoe person, but those are tempting. Thanks for the info.

    1. I'm not a huge shoe personn either Michele, but little casual ones like these are always needed and they came at a perfect time where my old pair of lightweight sneakers were starting to die - so an added bonus!

  13. My feet are so weird (high arch, apparently deformities?? and wide and large) that while I'd love to shop online, I just can't. I have to try shoes on first. Often there's no larger size for me to go to unfortunately.

    1. Yes, sizing and fit are always a problem if you're not a "standard" type of shoe wearer aren't they Vanessa? I think for people like you it's a case of spending the extra money and getting the right fit or you have buyers regret later!

    1. Shoes can be SO expensive can't they Denyse? I have one pair of sneakers that I pay a lot of money for each year because I walk so much - the rest I'm happy to have for fun and not expect them to put up with so much wear and tear.
Thanks for including me in the sidebar of your Monday community xx

  15. Those purple sneakers are gorgeous. Don't you just love cats and boxes. My cat tries to fit into the tiniest of boxes and it's so funny to watch. My children have embraced online shopping and all the parcels get sent to me because I am the one home all day. I can get three parcels a day sometimes.

    1. Both our cats are fascinated with boxes Veronica - and squeezing into small spaces - or squishing into somewhere together - Luna has very poor boundary recognition!
And yes, online parcels arriving at the door always make me smile (and sometimes I can't remember what I ordered - so it's like a birthday surprise!)
