IT'S A WRAP FOR 2020
Well, Christmas is just around the corner and the end of the year will be upon us before we know it. 2020 has crawled by at times, and flown by at other times. One minute we were in February and hearing about Coronavirus, then we were in March and completely locked down. Before I knew it, Easter had gone by without family or Easter eggs for the grandgirls.
We settled into our new normal here in Australia as Covid was kept to quarantined returning travellers in their hotel rooms, and life pretty much returned to normal. My heart broke for those who were living with huge numbers of new community cases, and those who lost family or friends from the virus. Things have certainly been uncertain and unsettled.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Like most bloggers, I'm taking a break over the Christmas/New Year season and this will be my last post until I leap back into the fray on Monday January 4th with my new Word Of The Year (#WOTY) and the plans I have for it. Then on the 11th I'll be doing a belated wrap up of what happened in December - holidays, torn calf muscles, Christmas, and more!
I hope you and your family are able to share Christmas together - and if you can't, I hope you can see each other online and that the time to meet in person will come quickly. We have our children and grandgirls coming down in a few days and we're looking forward to the time we can spend together celebrating Christ's birth, family love, and the joy of the season.
UNTIL NEXT YEAR...
So that's it for me for 2020 - a year that challenged me, reminded me that family is what my heart holds dearest, and a year that taught me that being Unbusy was something to be sought after rather than being avoided. I love my quiet life, I'm beyond thankful for how little impact covid has had in Australia, and I'm really looking forward to what 2021 will bring with it. It's my year to invest into being ready to leap into my 60's next November - now that will be something to sink my teeth into!
So until January 4th.......Have a really warm and wonderful Christmas time - share the love and focus on what's really important. I certainly will be.

Leanne, Have a wonderful Christmas with your family and a happy New Year 2021! I look forward to reconnecting in January. I hope the torn calf muscles heal by then. #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Natalie - wishing you and your family all the best for Christmas too - and yes I'm hoping the calf continues to mend itself and I can get back to some decent walking! See you in January x
DeleteHave a lovely Christmas with your family Leanne and enjoy making memories. I hope your torn calf muscle is on the mend and won't hamper you too much over the break. Take care and see you in 2021 for another year of friendship, blogging and who knows what else LOL :)
ReplyDeleteHi Sue - it's lovely that Christmas is finally here (and the end of 2020!) I think next year is going to be bright and beautiful - and I'm hoping to leap into it as soon as my leg co-operates! Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year xx
DeleteHave a wonderful Christmas and break. I guess you'll be riding that scooter. I'm so jealous but I live 10+km out of town (via 80km/hr and 100km/hr roads) so it wouldn't be practical for me.
ReplyDeleteHi Deb - I'm SO excited about my scooter - and I'm about the same distance from town too, but fortunately we have a little suburban community with a couple of small shopping centres, so I figure I can tootle around here and feel like Audrey Hepburn - must rustle up a scarf!
DeleteAs challenging and in many ways disappointing 2020 has been, I'm really grateful for the life lessons I've learned. Like you, it's made me really appreciate who and what is important in life and I've really appreciated being unbusy and the down time. I'm not expecting any miracles in 2021 but I'm looking forward to a fresh start, new hope and a clean slate. Wishing you and yours all the merry this Christmas and a happy, healthy and fun '21!
ReplyDeleteHi Sam - yes, I have fairly high hopes for 2021 but am also prepared for it to not live up to expectations. This virus has certainly thrown a spanner in the works and I don't think life will ever be quite the same, but at the same time, I'm SO grateful for how little impact it's had on us here in WA and I'm very much looking forward to family time in the next few days! x
DeleteHave a wonderful holiday! See you next year.
ReplyDeleteJanet’s Smiles
You too Janet - looking forward to staying in touch on our blogs for another year x
DeleteMerry Christmas Leanne, I hope you have a lovely time with your family. We have my brother here for the week so Christmas will be a special celebration this year.
ReplyDeleteHi Christina - I'm so glad you get to spend some time with your extended family. I'm counting down the days until my kids arrive here and we get to see them (and the grandgirls). Christmas for me is all about family and being together - so I'm grateful beyond words for the low covid numbers and the freedom to be with our loved ones. Merry Christmas! x
DeleteMerry Christmas Leanne, you've had a great year of blogging and i can't wait to see what 2021 brings - and what your word is!! Enjoy your family time as i know you will :) xx #lifethisweek
ReplyDeleteHi Deb - Christmas is going to be lovely and I think we're all going to make the best of whatever we're allowed to have. I'm looking forward to January and the "big reveal" for everyone's WOTY - its' going to be a heap of fun.
DeleteMerry Christmas Leanne. It will be interesting to see what 2021 brings us.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cheryl - I'm not sure what 2021 has in store for us - it may be fantastic, or it may be a continuation of all the unsettledness of 2020. Regardless, it will come and we'll all cope - and make the best of it because that's what we humans do xx
DeleteHi, Leanne - Wishing you and your family a happy and peaceful Christmas. I look forward to reading your January 4th post and discovering your WOTY!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna - Merry Christmas right back to you and your family - and yes, I'm looking forward to January and a new Word of the Year - it's going to be fun!
DeleteWhat a year it's been! I'm glad that I've been reading your blog more regularly in the last few months. Thank you for being an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to reading what your WOTY is. I'll be sharing mine this week.
I'm curious to know about your scooter - seem to have missed the post about it. Enjoy it.
S wonderful and blessed Christmas to you and your family, Leanne.
Hi Corinne - I'm so glad we've re-connected too. I think that we are walking similar paths (just in different parts of the world!) and I always enjoy reading your wise words. I'm looking forward to sharing my WOTY and seeing what everyone else comes up with - it's always so interesting. And I sent you a link to my scooter update in my comment on your blog - I have a blog post planned for it later in January x
DeleteWow, flashback on Easter, Leanne. You are right. That is when the reality of it all hit me. “...uncertain and unsettled.” I am excited to learn about your new WOTY. You always come up with good ones.
ReplyDelete“...family is what my heart holds dearest...” brought tears to my eyes. I have always appreciated my family, yet now even more. I will try to not let the little girls see tears, except for happy tears. I look forward to being part of your 2021, Leanne. Bring it on.xx
Hi Erica - my heart actually bleeds for those like yourself that have to do their family Christmas from a distance. It will make my own with family in my home feel even more precious and appreciated. 2020 certainly threw us all for a loop and yet, I'm grateful for a lot of things this year brought with it too. I'm very excited to be heading into 2021 and seeing everyone's WOTY's - they're always so creative. x
DeleteHave a fabulous Christmas...I'm so honoured to be a part of your bloggy family and look forward to being part of your 2021.
ReplyDeleteRight back at you Jo! I hope your Christmas is lovely and I know you'll be as grateful as I am that we can share it with our families and hug and laugh together (unlike our friends on the other side of the world). Looking forward to sharing 2021 with you too xx
DeleteHi Leanne - Enjoy your holidays. It was wonderful reading your posts. I must admit I haven't been as regular as I thought I should be. Merry Christmas to you and everyone near and dear to you.
ReplyDeleteI've been a bit all over the place too Pradeep - but it's been great keeping in touch and I hope you and your family have a great Christmas too (even though you'll be missing your father-in-law I'm sure) :)
DeleteI am glad to know you are coming back on 4 January 2021 with your word of the year. So am I! And I wasn't going to have one. Honestly, it's good to have a change of mind, right? Have a wonderful family Christmas. We are going to miss ours now thanks to our decision not to travel to Sydney while COVID lurks. Our big hope is that family can come to us for our 50th Wedding Anniversary lunch in January. Thank you so much for your blogging friendship, linking up as you have in 2020 and looking forward to more in 2021 when Life This Week begins...the link up I mean on 4 Jan 2021 with "Word of the Year" as an optional prompt. Stay safe and well, and see you soon...Denyse.
ReplyDeleteHi Denyse - sorry that you won't get to spend Christmas with the family - this virus certainly threw a spanner in the works didn't it? Glad you're deciding to do a WOTY - Sue and I are making plans about ours when we do the reveal on Jan 4th - will definitely link up - and you might like to link back xx
DeleteMerry Christmas, Leanne :)
ReplyDeleteAnd merry Christmas to you too Molly - so lovely having you back in my blogging world x
DeleteWishing you and your family a merry Christmas and a happy New Year! I'm looking forward to learning your Word of the Year and your December wrap-up. In the meantime, I hope you are enjoying your break.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and happy new year to you too, Leanne! It has been quite the year, but we made it (and hopefully learned and grew along the way)!
