my love and hate list

inhale love exhale hate

The lovely Lana from My New Happy shared her top ten loves and hates and then passed the baton on to me. I loved all her topics, but I was struggling to come up with so many loves and hates to make up my list. So........I cheated (shame on me) and I've done my top 5 instead. I hope it's still in keeping with the spirit of the challenge and so here they are (in no particular order):

5 THINGS I LOVE

MIDLIFE

I am surprised at how much I am starting to enjoy this stage of life – there is so much freedom and very few demands. I’m finding it’s a great time to take stock and slow down and breathe. Who would have thought that life after 50 is pretty darn fine?

WORKING LESS DAYS OF THE WEEK

Changing from working 4 days a week to only working 2 days has been wonderful. I’m looking forward to filling up all that spare time with new plans, relaxing, volunteering and taking time for myself.

MY FAMILY

I love my husband and kids (and their spouses) I’m really proud of how far we’ve all come and I’m hanging out for grandbabies. Family is my heart and soul and is a major defining element in who I am and I am very blessed with my loved ones.

BLOGGING

This has been such a surprise for me. I can’t believe how much I am enjoying writing and ‘meeting’ other bloggers and sharing and encouraging. There has been so much inspiration and I’m just loving it all.

COFFEE WITH FRIENDS

Nothing beats sitting with an old friend having a really good coffee and catching up with each other’s lives and what’s happening in our extended families.

5 THINGS I HATE

COLD MORNINGS

I’m not a morning person at the best of times. It's heading into Winter in Australia and while everyone is discussing Summer in the northern hemisphere, here the mornings are getting really cold and dark it makes getting out of my warm bed even harder.

ANY KIND OF DRAMA

The older I get, the less I can be bothered with pettiness and gossip and people getting worked up over minor issues. I’m also not a fan of loud opinionated people – I’m becoming a firm believer in “live and let live” and please keep your dramas to yourself.

BARKING DOGS

There’s just something in my OCD brain that gets riled when I hear a dog barking non-stop. It’s all I can do not to yell “shut!!! up!!!!” which would only make the situation worse. I’m sorry for the dog but sorrier for those of us who have to listen to it. I'm also sorry for the people who have to listen to me whinge about it too!

IGNORANT DRIVERS

To all those drivers in giant 4WD's and SUV's - please look around you and notice what other drivers are doing. Also, while you're at it, maybe use your indicator correctly and do the speed limit and don’t cut me off when you change lanes.

QUEUES

Especially in the supermarket when I’ve done my shopping and just want to pay for it and go home. I’m not a fan of queues at fast food places or movie theatres or anywhere else really – I just want to get where I’m going as quickly and smoothly as possible. And heaven help you if you try and cut in front of me!

  3. I love your list Leanne, and the fun details you shared with it more than made up for only posting 5 things each instead of 10! Lana nominated me, and I would have tagged you in my post - had she not done so already! Too bad you live so far away - I'd love to have a chat over coffee!

    1. Hi Sue - glad you're going to share in the fun of the love/hate blog. I just have to say that I have no comprehension of the combination of the words 'fun' and 'run' especially when you add them to a half marathon! But good on you - I'll be cheering from my warm bed :)
