QUOTES ABOUT EQUANIMITY
I think it's pretty obvious that I love a good quote, and when I choose a
Word of the Year, a whole lot of quotes suddenly leap out and become even
more meaningful. This year when I chose
Equanimity
as my WOTY, I put several of my favourite quotes together and created my own
version of an Equanimity Vision Board to remind me to remain calm and
centred throughout the year.
Today I thought I'd share some of those quotes and what my board looks
like....
ULLIE-KAYE QUOTE
I absolutely love this quote from
Ullie-Kaye
(a poet whose work
I've shared previously). It really sums up that soul deep certainty that comes with
equanimity.
AN ALL TIME FAVOURITE QUOTE
When I first came across this quote from Albert Camus it struck a chord
deep within me, and it's been an absolute favourite of mine for several
years. It took on even more meaning this year when I chose to focus on my
invincible inner Summer.
FLYING EDNA QUOTES
Once I settled on Equanimity as my Word of the Year, I found several quotes
from
Flying Edna that really resonated with me. Here are a few of them:
MY EQUANIMITY VISION BOARD
Finally, here is the whiteboard in my office space - it's full of family
pictures, but I moved things around and included my Equanimity definition
and quotes - it's a great reminder to stay sane in a crazy world.
WHAT ABOUT YOU?
Have you done anything special with your Word of the Year? Is it motivating
you to live life well? I'd love you to share how you're being inspired by
having a #WOTY to guide you.

Oh wow, thank you for sharing so many inspiring words!
ReplyDeleteI love the pieces by Flying Edna. It inspired me to write this:
“She cleared out all of her old thinking, until she could finally hear HER ✨”
Hi Mika - I think Flying Edna is the voice of women my age - so much wisdom in so few words. And the idea of simplicity and being who you are just resonates with me.
DeleteGreat Vision Board, Leanne. Very powerful!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna - the thing with choosing a #WOTY that's a bit complex is reminding myself of what it encompasses and why I chose that particular direction. Putting in front of me every day helps cement it in my head. :)
DeleteI also like the Flying Edna quotes...definitely giving me some food for thought. Thank you for sharing your vision board with us as well!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristine - they're great words aren't they? Flying Edna does artwork as well, but I like the simplicity of the typed quotes and they just hit me where I'm at right now.
DeleteLove the vision board, Leanne, I've not made one of those for years. Lots of food for thought in your post. My WOTY is Freedom and I've been pleasantly surprised at how it is showing itself to me each day.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue - I haven't made a vision board for years either - this seemed like the perfect time, and it reminds me what the underlying feeling for my word is - and to focus on that when it catches my eye. I imagine Freedom will bring lots of inspiration through the year.
DeleteHi Leanne - Lovely to read all those quotes. They are always an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHi Pradeep - I'm glad you enjoyed them and I hope you found at least one to give you a boost for the day.
DeleteI love your vision board and these quotes are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo - I liked the idea of using my whiteboard for something other than just family pics for the year - and the quotes were a good fit.
DeleteThank you Leanne I love our quotes. Thank you for taking us on a journey and helping people like me see that my value is not in just being busy. I have been practicing the calmness in my life since I saw your WOTY and it's changing my life. love Bree
ReplyDeleteHi Bree - I'm SO glad you're finding it helpful. I keep coming back to it every day because I SO want to find that inner calm centre that is unruffled by the noise around me. I've been listening to some fantastic podcasts on simplicity and being centred in who you are as a child of God - it keeps inspiring me to want to go deeper. x
DeleteHi Leanne, I'm am still in 'pause mode' waiting for 2024 to get started, so your quotes are especially appreciated today. Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteHi Suzanne - I'm beginning to wonder if I should have chosen "Pause" as my #WOTY because it keeps popping up lately (along with "Yield") they both tie in with the simplicity and soul centredness I want in my life - the ability to step back and breathe - letting things go, and not rushing into where angels fear to tread. Maybe you're onto something by starting the year more slowly and intentionally...
DeleteA lovely collection Leanne, isn't it funny how quotes you may have skipped over before suddenly take on a new importance now?? Your vision board is a great way to remind yourself of your word and the why of it all!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb - and yes you're absolutely right, all these quotes are jumping out at me because they reflect the life I want to live (based around my WOTY). I really like how one small word can refocus towards more growth and authenticity.....we can really thrive :)
DeleteThese are all great quotes, Leanne, and I love how you incorporated them with your family pictures on your vision board. Nice work keeping your WOTY front and center!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christie - I'm really enjoying seeing where this word is taking me, and it keeps reminding me to come back to myself, back to joy, back to simplicity - all good things in this uncertain and often noisy world.
DeleteHi Leanne, Another thing you and I have in common “love a good quote.” Wow, wow and wow…challenging to pick a favourite one you share here…therefore bookmarking this post in my “Inspirational” file. I do not have a specific word, although I have sayings/quotes/paragraphs that resonate with me, inspire me, help motivate me, especially with writing projects. A possible ‘interacting people’ one I have had for many years….”whose life am I leading and living…their life or mine”. This one usually gives me an almost immediate answer. Great post again, Leanne! xx 💕 Erica
ReplyDeleteHi Erica - I'm loving having you back in my comments (and I hope you read Deb's friendship post today - it brought back happy memories). I think quotes have the ability (like song lyrics) to resonate deeply with very few words. Some just strike a chord within us and speak to something we've been thinking but not able to put into words. And I love the idea of living our own lives - not the lives we think others want for us :) x
DeleteLove the quotes by Flying Edna especially the one about the moment she said no more wasting time on anything other than" the life I love". Hope that moment has truly arrived for me. Have not done a vision board for many year but remember with fondness the one which had FOLLOW YOUR BLISS in the center. Thank you as always for your inspiring blog.
ReplyDeleteHi Judith - I love "follow your bliss" and I think that's what retirement is turning out to be for me - with a bucketload of contentment thrown into the mix. Living the life we love is so important as we begin to realize that life is getting shorter :)
DeleteThere are times I have wondered about my words to live by...choice, chose, choosing etc and it's usually because I am not 'happy' about something. So then I have to 'choose' to reframe the situation, often using gratitude and it comes out OK. I have tried a vision board and yet despite being a visual person I didn't follow it. I am however, keeping up my accountability to me practices and they are helping. Thanks for sharing with us what you've been up to...and honestly I admit I thought I would have commented on Monday when your post arrived as an email. Time has taken its toll...but at least I remembered on Friday! Denyse.
ReplyDeleteHi Denyse - better late than never with your commenting and I always look forward to your input. I'm not a big fan of vision boards, but I've found that using the whiteboard in my office means I can move things around, update quotes if I want to, and keep my word fresh in my mind.
DeleteI think choice is a good word if you're using it to direct you towards choosing your attitude, choosing to be positive, choosing to be grateful - they're the things that save us from becoming grumpy old women :)
Thank you for introducing Flying Edna to me. I'm reminded of StoryPeople. One of my favorite - There are things you do because they feel right & they make no sense & they make no money & it may be the real reason we are here: to love each other & eat each other's cooking & say it was good. (Real Reason by Brian Andreas). I'm inspired to create a vision board for my WOTY - resolve.
ReplyDeleteHi Mona - storypeople and flying edna are both iterations of Brian and I love the thoughts that they share. Simple, joyful, fun, and a little reminder to live well - you can't beat that can you? Vision boards also have plenty of iterations - mine was a bit different to one I tried years ago - I'm more a quote person and less an image finder - you might do something quite unique with your word....
