MY FABULOUS FEBRUARY
At the beginning of January I chose my new Word of the Year - which
was FABULOUS - and in honour of all things fabulous, I've decided to return to
my old habit of looking back over the month that's finished and sharing a
few snippets that shone out during those weeks. My moments of "Fabulosity"
is how I'm thinking of them.
How lovely that February is an "F" word and ties in so well with Fabulous
- so without further ado, here's some of the small Fabulous moments from
February.....
FAMILY-ING
I'm cheating a little with this one because the photos of our
grandgirls' visit are from the last few days of January - but I
figured I'd be forgiven seeing that we didn't get to see them or our
kids during February (distance can be a bummer at times). Still, the
few days we had with them were lovely - full of stories, fairy making,
swimming, and girly chatter - and I just had to share a few pics.
They're growing up SO fast!
BLOGGING
Life on the blog has been steady and quiet. I'm sticking with my
Monday posts and I still seem to have many thoughts left to share. I
wondered if I'd run out of ideas when 2021 drew to a close, but there
always seems to be something that catches my eye, or gives me
inspiration to put into a post. If you missed any of my February posts
(there were only four - including this one) I've added the links to
the other three below. I'd love you to pop over for a read.
CREATING
I've been spending little chunks of my spare time doing some more collaging. There's just something so relaxing about cutting and glueing, deconstructing and rearranging. I'm also enjoying creating in books because it gives me somewhere to keep my projects without having loose pages everywhere. This is the third book in my ongoing collection and it's been based around women and flowers - all so pretty....LOVING
In honour of my six "F" words for my 60's, this is what I've been loving lately....
Friends - I love seeing my friends achieve amazing things - a few
weeks ago we went to my friend
Anita's
first art gallery showing - to enjoy with her the thrill of having
her work displayed and purchased. (And isn't her hair
amazing?!)
Faith - Wearing a mask in church takes things to a whole new level
- it's weird to sing in a mask, it's weird to socialise in a mask,
and it's such a strange new normal to be living with.
Freedom & Flexibility - I still pinch myself sometimes when I look at how
simple and stress-free my life is now. This Calvin and Hobbes
cartoon appeared in our newspaper this month and it says it all....
I feel like I might just be allowed a little smugness!
Fabulosity - I rarely spend money on things other than groceries or
necessities these days, so when something fun catches my eye I've
decided to stop being stingy with myself and to just buy it. This
month's purchase was a lovely colour changing solar ball - I do love
a bit of bling in the garden!

Hi, Leanne - I am delighted that 2022 has been filled with family, friends, faith, freedom, and finding new forms of expression. This is such a fabulous and inspiring beginning to 2022. I look forward to following how your WOTY inspires the months ahead.
ReplyDeleteHi Donna - it's been a really good month (despite the heat and lack of rain in our neck of the woods). I'm still really enjoying the retired life and all the opportunities to do things on my own terms - such a lovely stage of life.
DeleteYour creativity is flowing Leanne, good on you for being fabulous and you can be a little smug at times - if not now when?? Love all your fabulous bits for Feb, and hoping March is just as good. You've really got the rhythm now!
ReplyDeleteHi Deb - yes I think I'm rocking this Fabulous stage of life - sometimes I feel a little bit guilty about how easy life is atm - but if we don't let ourselves enjoy the good times, then we're not being grateful for all the work that went into getting here. x
DeleteHi Leanne. Great catch-up! Tim and I will be married 39 years in May. We married 6 months, after we met in 1983. We are both truly blessed, to have such wonderful marriages. Thanks for sharing. xxxx Christina Daggett
ReplyDeleteThe old saying "marry in haste....repent at leisure" obviously doesn't always apply Christina (thank goodness!) I'm so glad you have a similar story that's just as long lasting as ours. Both of our children met and married over about a year's timeframe too - I guess it's hereditary!
DeleteHi Leanne, January has been kind and fabulous to you and I loved reading about it. Your wedding is a huge achievement and such a happy event. I loved seeing the younger you. You really haven't changed much. You had that beautiful smile back then too.
ReplyDeleteHi Jen - thanks for the lovely compliment - I sometimes see my young self when I'm smiling - but man....I was a lot fresher faced and thinner back then - but I'm happy to be where I am at 60 - there's been a lot of years of living since those wedding pics!
DeleteReading about how much you are enjoying life makes me so happy! What a wonderful and so much needed, joyful post. And your wedding photos are lovely!
ReplyDeleteHi Susanne - I was feeling a bit guilty about how easy we've had it here with the whole covid thing - but (as I suspected) it's just delayed the inevitable and omicron has arrived and is spreading rapidly. I refuse to allow that to bother me and I intend to live a Fabulous March month too - life is short and we have to appreciate every minute of it :)
DeleteWhat a fabulous February you've had, Leanne. Thanks for sharing it with us. Congratulations on 39 years of marriage!
ReplyDeleteHi Christie - it's been a good month and I've enjoyed summer - but I'm well and truly ready for a bit of cooler weather as Autumn slowly starts in March - roll on some cooler nights!
DeleteFabulous is definitely the right word! What wonderful things to celebrate in February (and the end of Jan.). Looks like your granddaughters had just as much fun as you did. Happy belated Anniversary.
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne - life is definitely full of happy moments (even Fabulous ones!) if we're open to looking for them. I'm loving my small and cosy life - and it's lovely to remind myself of that at the end of each month :)
DeleteYour collages are really inspiring! I've used the collage technique to do vision boards, but your's are simply breathtaking compositions. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThis year marks my 30th wedding anniversary... we met later in life (and yeah, first marriage for both of us). It's wonderful to go through life with a partner who's there through it all!
Hi Pat - thanks for your lovely compliment about my collaging efforts - I just find the whole process so relaxing and rewarding. Creativity for the uncreative! And you and your husband may have started a bit later, but it's great that you're both going strong too.
DeleteLove that final quote Leanne! Your grandaughters are so cute. I hope I get a grandchild one day as I imagine it would be so much fun being a grandparent! Happy 39th Anniversary to you! I'm guessing you got married in 1983? I worked that out because we've been married 37 years and were married in 1985. Such a whizz at maths - not! lol I'm loving the look of your friends art! Is that acrylic or oil? Oh and yes she does have fabulous hair! Wishing you a 'FABULOUS' March! xo
ReplyDeleteHi Min - well done on the Maths! And yes your grandparenting will happen one day - and you'll probably end up with more than the two that are all I've been blessed with (my daughter and her husband have decided not to have children). My friend Anita dabbles in a bit of everything with her art - she tends to layer and layer and layer a bit more - primarily acrylics, but with all sorts of other things in the mix - it's fascinating to see her process. She's hoping to start making a living from her art - and I often think of you when she talks about it. x
DeleteCongratulations on your 39th Wedding Anniversary. Gosh, next year it will be 40 years for you...and I remember celebrating that with my parents in 1986. TIME is a weird thing. In NSW singing and dancing has only just returned....been s very frustrating time in schools and for our grandson who is a DJ (amongst other things) Thank you for sharing your blog post for the final #lifethisweek link up…you were part of my blogging history as it was the 280th link up!!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to having you link up when I am next back with #lifethismonth on Monday 14 March 2022. Same hours and days open as for #lifethisweek.
Warm wishes,
Denyse.
Hi Denyse - you have a lot more water under your marital bridge than we do - but you're a shining example of it still going strong after many, many years together. WA is tightening up on everything atm - I think our Premier still believes he can beat the virus (and forgets that a virus is unbeatable!) We have a very high vaccination rate and it's only Omicron - with almost nobody in hospital, so I think we should just get on with things - the borders open tomorrow and that will add yet another layer to the craziness.
Deletehappy anniversary congratulations
ReplyDeleteThank you - it feels like a great box to have ticked for another year :)
DeleteCongratulations on your 39th wedding anniversary, Leanne. I'm glad you had a fabulous February. Your art creation and Anita's are both beautiful. Thank you for sharing your updates and photos with #weekendcoffeeshare.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the anniversary wishes Natalie and for the lovely compliments on my "art" and Anita's. Thanks for hosting a great link up and I'll see you next week :)
DeleteThanks for a fabulous recap.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure Antionette
DeleteSounds like you've had a great month, Leanne. Congratulations on 39 years of marriage! That's such an accomplishment and a blessing. My husband and I have been married for 20 years and today was our son's 18th Birthday and we had a dinner for about 18 friends held at the Church (they went out for a drink afterwards so it wasn't all wholesome. It's been challenging getting in synch with him but everything came together really well. We had a really good night and my sponge cake was perfect.
ReplyDeleteIt is still really wet here, but nothing like what Lismore and the Hawkesbury people are going through.
Hope you have a great week.
Best wishes,
Rowena
PS your grand-daughter look very sweet.
Hi Rowena - I'm glad the floods haven't gotten to you - but I imagine the rain must be really tiresome - especially when Winter hasn't even started yet. We've had no rain for months and are at the other end of the extremes - some mellow weather would be nice for all of us! Glad the 18th birthday party (and cake) went so well - it's so hard to believe our babies are so grown up isn't it?
DeleteI loved everything about this post Leanne! your granddaughters are darling. That book is stunning. Your friend is VERY talented. I also love your garden art. That comic strip cracked me up. Your wedding photos are stunning. Happy Anniversary. We celebrate 30 years in October.
