DRUM ROLL!
My blogging buddy Sue Loncaric from Sizzling Towards 60 and Beyond is joining me next week to launch our new and Exclusive Midlife Link Party. You might be thinking "Oh, another link party to add to my collection" but what we've been planning is something a bit different to your average Link Up. We want to go beyond the usual format and do something that comes from a different direction.
WHAT IS KINDNESS?

WHAT IS KINDNESS TO YOU?
This was the question Denyse asked on her Life This Week link up. Kindness is a term we throw around with abandon, but it's one that I couldn't actually define in a sentence or two. It's a rather nebulous concept really when you stop and think about it. Is my idea of kindness the same as someone else's? Do we look at it differently depending on how we've been brought up, or from what we've experienced in our lives so far.
5 FANTASTIC ROBERT BRAULT QUOTES
Thursday 18 January 2018
MAKING A DISCOVERY
I saw a great quote the other day and the author of it was Robert Brault - who I had never heard of before. When I Googled him (as any Midlifer would!) I realized that he had actually authored some other quotes that had spoken to me at different times over the last few years. So, I thought I'd share my Top 5 Robert Brault Quote picks and included a Pinnable image and a little explanation for each one. I'd love you to Pin any you like and to tell me which was your favourite in the comments at the end.
5 TOUGH QUESTIONS I'VE NEVER ASKED MYSELF
Monday 15 January 2018
MY TOP FIVE QUESTIONS
My husband posted a Facebook link to an interesting article the other day. It was "50 Tough Questions You Never Ask Yourself, But Should" by Marla Tabaka. Fifty questions are way too many for me to get my head around, and a lot of them didn't really apply to me, but at least half of them were worth giving more than a passing thought to.
As anyone who reads my blog knows, I'm a big fan of the Magic Number 5 so I picked my top five questions from her list. Four of them ask for three things and one sums it all up. That was about as far as my Midlife brain could stretch after a few weeks of being in holiday mode! So, on that note here we go with my Top 5 Tough Questions I've Never Asked Myself....
DISCOVERING THE FINE ART OF DETACHMENT
Thursday 11 January 2018
RE-DEFINING DETACHMENT
I grew up thinking that being detached was isolating and showed you didn't care about other people and their problems. I'm not sure where I got that idea from, but it was firmly entrenched in my understanding of how relationships worked.I thought it was rude to be detached and that it meant you didn't have compassion for others. But now I've learned that detachment can be a good thing, a healthy choice, and often the means of preserving my sanity when it comes to interacting with difficult people.
MY TOP 5 "RISE" QUOTES

FIVE GREAT QUOTES ON RISING
Seeing my word for 2018 is RISE and seeing I am a huge lover of quotes, I thought I'd combine the two and put together five quotes that reflect how the word RISE applies to the year ahead for me. I hope you enjoy them and feel free to Pin any that appeal to you.MY WORD FOR 2018 - RISE!

PREVIOUS YEARS
Each year since I started blogging I've chosen a Word for the year. In 2015 it was RELEASE to recognize the need to let go of some of the things I was holding on to too tightly. In 2016 it was EMBRACE to celebrate all the new things I had room for after letting go of the stuff that was holding me back. In 2017 it was ENOUGH - the fact that I am enough, I have enough, and being happy with life. This year I pondered for several weeks in the lead up on what word to choose because I had a sense of needing to move on from some of the not-so-fabulous parts of 2017.
GOODBYE TO 2017
Monday 1 January 2018
GOODBYE TO 2017
Happy New Year to everyone and I can't believe 2018 is here already. I'm not sure what happened to 2017 - one minute it was March and the next, we were celebrating Christmas! I thought it was because I was getting old that time was flying, but even younger people commented on how quickly the year had zoomed by.
