MY APRIL DELIGHTS
As I mentioned at the beginning of January when I chose "Delight" as my Word of the Year, I thought I'd round off each month with three delights. April has been a lovely month with Easter holidays giving us time spent with our children and grandgirls. Today it's time to share a family delight, a bathroom delight, and a quote about finding delight in the everyday moments that come our way.So, without further ado here are my three delights from April...
Easter is always a special time for me, it makes me pause to remember the real reason behind the holiday (not just the chocolate!) and it always brings with it some extended time with our adult children and our two delightful grandgirls. I just love having them here with us sharing their time, the laughter, the meals, the stories, and the outings. I'm so grateful every time I see them for what wonderful humans they've become and for what a great job they're doing with their lives. The weather was glorious - just the right amount of sunshine for a stroll along the estuary, and we had two birthdays to celebrate with cupcakes.

My daughter even made time to do a little op-shopping with me - nothing beats browsing around in amongst the clothing and book bargains..... and we followed that up with some morning tea and a good chat. I miss having her nearby, but it's times like this that make up for the distance.

A DELIGHTFUL NEW ENSUITE BATHROOM
I couldn't include our bathroom renovation in March's delights because it didn't feel very delightful while we were immersed in the process (I alluded to it in my post about Life Imitating A Renovation). But, now we're out of the tunnel and the tradesmen are gone, the bathroom is finished....and we love it! It feels like a day spa because it's all so calm, and beautiful, and functional - bliss!
So, after all the upheaval, I'm delighting every day in how happy we are with our new space. To give you a little bit of an idea of how it looked before, and how it looks now:

Hi Leanne. It sounds like you had quite an eventful and blissful month. I'm so glad your bathroom turned out well, and I'm glad you'll be able to have a spa-like experience, whenever you use your bath. We have also enjoyed an eventful month, and tomorrow we will close on our house, here in Williamston, North Carolina. I think we're going to like it here. Everyone is so friendly. I had forgotten that fact about southern people. I'll send photos soon. ♥️
ReplyDeleteHi Christina - I had to do a Google search to find where you were (my US geography is sadly lacking). It looks like it would be a lovely spot to settle. Is it anywhere near where you originally lived? Close to friends or family - or are you starting from scratch? I'll look forward to seeing the photos and hearing all your exciting updates. x
DeleteWhat an amazing difference in the bathroom stakes! And it's a big yes from me re the op shopping (obviously lol...)
ReplyDeleteHi Jo - it's funny when you have something and think it's okay, then strip it back and rethink it, and it all feels so much better. Hopefully it will take us into the next decade or two without needing any more refreshing. And yes, a big thumbs up to the op shopping revolution :)
DeleteHi, Leanne - 'Delight' has been the perfect WOTY for you. Your bathroom renovation looks amazing, Well done!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Donna - it's certainly delightful to be using our new space - and to have our house back to its usual peacefulness. Sometimes chaos reminds us of how lovely its absence is!
DeleteLeanne-Your new bathroom is so nice! It’s hard to go through but so worth it. Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Michelle - we just love it and are beyond relieved that the colour choices we made all worked together to produce something so serene.
DeleteI am familiar with the discomfort involved in renovation so understand what you have been through but what a wonderful result. Enjoy this new space in your home.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judith - I knew it would be disruptive, but I hadn't realized how quiet and ordered our life is - in complete contrast to what goes on in a renovation. It's lovely to have our home back and to have a really good result - the stress fades, the bathroom stays :)
DeleteHi Leanne - That was indeed a blissful and enjoyable month for you. The bathroom now really nice! It was worth all the trouble.
ReplyDeleteHi Pradeep - looking back, it was definitely worth it, in the middle of it all I was definitely questioning my choices! I figured that the longer you leave it, the harder it would get, so good to have tackled it and to be done with it. And it does look lovely.
DeleteYour Easter sounds wonderful, always a treat to spend time with family, especially when they don’t live nearby. As for your bathroom/spa space, it looks lovely. I’m very envious as we are still not finished with ours, getting closer now though! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt was such a lovely time with them all - I still smile when I think back about their visit. And yes, so good to have the bathroom all finished. I don't think I had any idea of the disruption that would be involved (I was very naive!) So worth it now in hindsight, but so stressful and unsettling when we were in the middle of it all. I broke out in stress hives towards the end - so it definitely was well outside my comfort zone! Good luck with finishing yours. :)
DeleteWhat a delight to read your end of April post...and to see the joy in catching up with family too. As for the bathroom reno, it rocks!! Denyse x
ReplyDeleteHi Denyse - I love our new bathroom - it really is beautiful, and in a few months time I'll be able to forget all the stress and chaos that went into creating it!
DeleteHappy to hear your renovation work is done and you are happy with the result!
