The A-Z of Positive Personality Traits - X is for eXcellent

The A-Z of Positive Personality Traits - X is for eXcellent - www.crestingthehill.com.au

Next letter up for the A-Z challenge of Positive Personality Traits is X - and X is for eXcellent. Yes, I know I cheated a bit with this one, but there wasn't really a positive trait that I could come up with that started with X (my husband suggested xenophobic, but I thought that wouldn't go down very well!)

Excellence of character is a noble trait indeed - no half measures, no fuzzying up the boundaries, no fudging on outcomes. A person who has an excellent personality trait always aims to be the best they are capable of being in any situation. They don't do half measures because that is not good enough for them.

It would be easy to slip into perfectionism and that isn't a great trait (speaking from experience, perfectionism can become very wearying!) Maintaining excellence is more to do with being your best and giving your best in every situation. It means people can rely on you to show integrity and to finish what you start and to do the job well and to the best standard you are capable of.

In our fast paced society we can fall into the trap of the "quick fix" which is often not the best solution. A little time and effort and pride in what we are doing will give a much better result in the long run. Having excellence as your go-to preference means that people are more likely to trust you to do a job properly and you gain a reputation as a person who gives their best at all times.

In our families and in our careers, being a person who leads with excellence means that we are building quality into our relationships and into our work-places and into future generations - what a legacy to leave!

See you next time for the continuation of Positive Personality Traits - Y is for Youthful.

    1. It's funny Deepti because someone actually used Xenophobic as their word for X and it wasn't a positive trait at all - as you noticed!

  2. I had to go with xenophobia :) didn't have anything else starting in "X". You are absolutely right about this one. One doesn't have to be excellent just need to give 100% :)

    1. There was another Xenophobic post too Zeljka - it's interesting that a generation ago nobody would have known what it meant - another sad reflection of this world we live in.

  4. X is versatile like that. Am sure it does not mind you cheated. We sure don't! This trait sure requires a moment to moment commitment.Really admire people who are like this.

    1. Hi Kala - I think teaching your children to give their very best is the beginning of passing on a legacy of excellence - we don't always succeed but at least we gave it our best shot!

  7. I've come to your blog late in A to Z and I've enjoyed reading your positive personality traits. We could all print the letters plus attributes out and out them on the wall. An excellent idea and theme.
