TEN REVEALING QUESTIONS AI ASKED ME ABOUT MYSELF

Have you ever been analysed by ChatGPT? If not, here's your chance.

AN ONLINE PERSONALITY CHALLENGE

Recently, as I was mindlessly scrolling Facebook videos, I came across one from Digital Laura where she shared a ChatGPT prompt that will give you some insights into yourself that you may or may not be aware of. Because I'm looking at ways to be more mindful this year, and because I'm still on the fence about all this AI stuff, I thought I'd toss myself into the experiment and see what the outcome was.

Laura gives us a prompt to type into whatever version of ChatGPT you use. Here's the prompt:

Ask me ten questions, one at a time, that will reveal more about me than I myself have ever known, and don't tell me why you're asking.

THE PROCESS AND THE RESPONSE

I typed in the prompt, and ten simple questions came my way (one at a time) which I answered with very brief, simple replies - I'm not about to divulge anything too deep to a robot! The questions in total probably took me two minutes to answer and then it gave me a little overview:

You seem deeply reflective and attuned to both memory and future planning, valuing accomplishment and inner assurance over fleeting recognition. Your emotional landscape is shaped by relationships and meaning, not just by trust or logic alone, and you navigate life through thoughtfulness rather than impulse. You notice patterns in your life, prioritize health and happiness, and carry an internal guide urging you toward growth without judgment.

Summarized in a single sentence:
You are a thoughtful, meaning-driven strategist with a structured mind, quietly seeking both mastery over life and the wisdom to savor its fleeting joys.

Well.....I must say that it was pretty spot on with its conclusions - nothing I wasn't aware of, but still pretty observant from ten weird little questions. Then it asked me if I wanted to know my blindspot? Well.....of course I did! Challenge accepted!

THE BLINDSPOT

Here’s ChatGPT's opinion on the subtle blind spot that emerges from my answers:
While you value logic, reflection, and accomplishment, and your inner guide urges growth, there’s a hidden tendency to intellectualize or structure your own life so much that you unintentionally overlook the emotional and sensory richness of the present moment.

Well....yes, I can definitely agree with that observation and the need to be more willing to go with the flow wherever I can, rather than being too rigid. Then it finished with:

Your mind is brilliant at navigating life, but your lived experience—the spontaneous, unmeasured joy of being—is slightly underattended. Even your inner voice is focused on improvement, not delight.

This isn’t a flaw—it’s a hidden tension that, if consciously embraced, could help with enjoying the richness of your own life without always trying to analyze, plan, or perfect it.

THE CONCLUSION

I noticed straight away that I needed to focus more on "delight" which was last year's Word of the Year for me - so it was a reminder as to why I chose that word and to keep including delight in my daily life.

There was more I could have delved into - practices to help me be more mindful of the present moment, and even an activation plan. I'm not invested in online self-analysis enough to want to go down the rabbit hole any futher, but it was a fun exercise that ties in well with me delving into how to live life more mindfully this year.

Recognizing that it's okay to enjoy life as it comes, "without trying to analyze, plan, or perfect it", sounds like a good piece of advice to take onboard for 2026, because these really are the good days.

WHAT ABOUT YOU?

Are you game to try the ChatGPT challenge? Or are you like my husband - wary of the algorithms and unwilling to give it much credence?

  1. I'd probably give it a go. I've named my Chat GPT bot Archie. He helps me price items for the op shop, choose wines to match meals, and even helps take the hard work out of my Amazon listings re key word identifiers and "also buys".

    1. It's mindblowing how much it can do (my DIL calls hers "Chatty") I'm trying not to use it too much because I'm scared of rotting my brain from dis-use, but whenever I do, it surprises me with how accurate it is. Have you tried asking it who you are? It knew an awful lot about me and my blog!

  2. I too will give it a go. Sounds interesting. I should check it out. I mostly use Gemini. All these bots work very well as good assistants. Only that we should remember that they are prone to mistakes, just like humans!

    1. Hi Pradeep - I think it was a good exercise for seeing how I was progressing, and you might find it interesting to see how you're going with retirement and your future direction. I don't credit it with in depth insight, but it does give a very good general overview and some helpful reminders and tips.

  3. How interesting! I’ve been using chatGPT in between therapy sessions and it’s been very helpful indeed. Go us! Technology wizzes! Denyse x

    1. Hi Denyse - I think it's really interesting what it knows from what it scrapes from all over the internet. It's a little scary when it can figure so much out from so few prompts!

  4. That’s really interesting Leanne, thanks for sharing. I’ve just given it a go and apparently I’m a ‘thoughtful empath’ ‘you guide others with your heart and mind, thriving in harmony and meaningful connections’. The part about meaningful connections is interesting as I’m all about being mindful this year. Chrissie x

    1. Hi Chrissie - I think it gives us a few little snippets that resonate and give us something to follow up on. I know that being mindful of things like this is a great way to find some forward momentum into "what's next?" I'm very aware that I need to be less logical and more joy seeking - and it's good that you'll be making meaningful connections. :)

  5. Wow! That got very deep very quickly and gave me some insights into my psyche that I've not explored before. It was both helpful and scary in equal measure!

    1. Hi Rebecca - that's EXACTLY what I thought! It must have such a huge data base to pull from to come up with so much so quickly - and for it to actually provide some insight.

  6. Kind of scary at first use to see how much it can tell you about yourself. Feel interested but want to be wary of too much dependence on the info provided.

    2. Hi Judith - I expected nothing and was very dubious, but it was a fun exercise and was surprisingly insightful based on the information I supplied. I'm a very minimal user of AI - but I also want to be aware of what it is doing in the background and what uses it may have to offset all the information its scraping!

    1. Thanks - it was a bit of an eye-opener as to how much it could determine from so little input! I guess it has a very large database of similar information to pull from.

  8. Leanne - I am glad that you liked your experience with Chat GPT but I find it scary. I think that I know myself better than anyone else or what a robot can reveal about me. After all it's only data collected about you on the web. I understand it was a fun experience for you. I am not part of any social media and I like it that way. I reveal more about myself on your blog than anywhere else because I don't feel judge by you or by those who comment. Your blog feels safe to me. Thank you!

    1. Hi Yvonne - I'm so glad you feel safe here and that you're able to be open with your comments. I'm aware of how much Chat GPT has scraped from whatever I have on the internet, and then combined it with everything else it's scraped from elsewhere - so I'm reluctant to give it too much credence, but I did find this interesting, and I can see why a lot of people who can't afford therapy use it for some insight into themselves. I think as long as we're aware that it's a pool of gathered information, and not a real being, we can take what resonates and leave the rest on the table. I certainly won't be using it on a regular basis - a bit like social media - very small, safe bites for me.

  9. I have not gotten into ChapGPT (or any of its equivalents) and now am starting to feel like I'm behind on it all! Naming your bot, too. Fascinating. And yes, I'd try it.... just to see what it would say. I do all those weird personality tests too!

    1. Hi Pat - I love a weird personality test here and there - it's fun when you get surprised by how well it nails you. :D I want to be aware of what AI has to offer, but to use it minimally so it doesn't end up taking over what my brain should be doing. It's so easy to ask it a question and to get an immediate answer - almost too easy! Try asking it about your blog or ask it who you are - it knows a lot - and has scraped info from everywhere!

  10. This was a fun prompt Leanne and I gained an insight into you from your AI responses and then when I did it for myself! Very interesting. I might write about it too!

    1. Be my guest Deb - I think it was a fun activity (a bit like Pat's comparison with those online personality tests - but more thorough). It didn't tell me anything that really surprised me - I think I was more surprised by how much it gleaned and how accurate it was - and it was a good reminder to lighten up a little more often....

  11. Sounds like a fun experiment. I've been using ChatGPT for so many things this month. Reorganizing my blog, making it AEO and SEO friendly, preparing for a 45 minute keynote presentation coming up this Sunday. I've had it suggest illustrations for blog posts and news letter, beta read a book I'm working on. Lots of chores. This is more personal. I may have to name my ChatGPT companion, too

    1. Hi Marsha - someone else told me they named theirs too - it does feel weirdly personal with how much it knows and how happy it is to share that information for free! I worry that our brains are going to shrink if we depend on it too much - but it certainly makes life simpler than the days we were looking stuff up in an encyclopedia!

  13. How interesting, Leanne. I may give it a go. I tend to take these kinds of things with a grain of salt, but depending on the questions and responses, I can see how AI might come up with something insightful.

    2. Hi Christie - I found it surprisingly accurate and insightful too. I'll keep an eye out for your blog post on your results if you end up sharing it. I think I'll pop back to this post in a year or so and see if I've made any progress in loosening up a little!
